The Gap in Recovery Care
Heart surgery patients are fitted with a device to monitor their progress during the critical recovery period. But if the same person undergoes surgery on a joint, no such technology is monitoring swelling, temperature, and range of motion. This can lead to visits to the Emergency Room, low satisfaction scores, lost revenue, and poor patient outcomes, especially after an outpatient procedure when the patient is sent home alone.

The Challenge
Despite extensive industry experience, Inkwell needed guidance to take their product from 0 to 1 — turning an idea into a fully functional product ready for market. Their challenges included:
- Developing a product that serves both patients and clinicians effectively.
- Meeting FDA Class II clearance requirements for software as a medical device (SaMD).
- Building scalable infrastructure to support seamless onboarding and future growth.

With strategic input from our trusted partner, SnapPea Design, we crafted user-friendly experiences for both patients and clinicians.
Working with the Founder of Inkwell Health as the primary stakeholder we helped refine the requirements to the initial product requirements.

Assessed image quality and detected post-surgical swelling. - Clinician Reporting on Patient Data:
Provided access to the doctor to quickly get an understanding of a patient's recovery progression. - Scalable Product Architecture:
